Having an NQ or NC (SCQF Levels 4-6) in a sports subject is recommended. A qualification in first aid is usually required. If the sports or leisure centre has a swimming pool, you may also need lifeguard qualifications.
How to start a career
If you are a student or graduate and consider a career in the leisure industry you study for a foundation degree, higher national diploma or degree in a relevant field like sports and leisure management, leisure studies, sports science, recreation management or business management. Some leisure centres offer apprenticeships to help you learn new skills.
