How to Get Started

Gardening is part of the horticultural industry and there are lots of different career paths you can go down, some roles include garden maintenance, design, cultivation, and planting, propagating rare and important plants and tree surgery.

There are other career options too including research, climate change issues and sustainability, to plant production and management of open spaces.

If you are interested in a career in the gardening industry can take courses in horticulture, landscape management, or agronomy. On these courses you will learn about landscape maintenance and design, turf grass management, botany, and plant pathology.

A lot of recruiters also offer internships, work experience placements and apprenticeships to help give you the training and skills for a future career.

A lot of temporary vacancies become available during summer.
