Ibiza is famous for being the party central of the world but even if you aren’t into clubbing, there is a lot more to this island. You can find quiet villages, yoga retreats, beautiful white sandy beaches and also lots of amazing day trips for sightseeing and tourism. Ibiza Town has ancient history and architecture and is generally quieter than Sant Antonio which is known for its bars and nightlife.

The easiest way to find a job is by searching and applying online. Having a job guaranteed before arriving is highly recommended as this gives you time to prepare and also to find somewhere to live if this isn’t provided by an employer.

Another option is to arrive and seek employment locally, a lot of employers usually hire staff through adverts in windows and flyers rather than online especially for seasonal and tourism types of roles. Summer is when most jobs become available, but due to the popularity of the island with tourists, you can find positions during winter especially over the Christmas and New Year period.

Working in Ibiza FAQ

Getting to Ibiza
Ibiza is very easy to get to and there are direct flights from lots of airports in Europe. You can also travel from mainland Spain to Ibiza by boat.

Language
Spanish is the official language of Spain, and although there is an international mix of people in Ibiza from all around the world for most jobs do not require any Spanish skills. We do though highly recommend trying to learn at least basic Spanish, this will improve your employment prospects and also make the experience living and working here much easier.

Best Time to Go
The best time to get work in Ibiza for a summer season is in early May and then again in early/mid-June. This is when the summer season is just building up and is the best time to settle in, as things aren’t too crazy, like in July/August and you can network and find your feet, much easier. You also stand a better chance of finding accommodation for the duration of your stay if this isn’t included in the job package.

Is it Hard to Find Get Employment in Ibiza?
Ibiza is a very popular destination, who wouldn’t want to spend summer or a prolonged period living here! If you know basic Spanish and German you will boost your chances of finding work here.

Visa, Eligibility and Requirements
If you are from an EU country you do not need a visa to work in Spain. But if you are from outside the EU, you will need to get a company to hire you and sponsor your visa. Some people get cash in hand jobs but this is illegal and very risky if you are caught by the local authorities.

Salaries
What you get paid really depends on the employer and contract. Most companies offer fixed contacts and salaries whilst others can offer flexible terms for example low basic wage but then you get commission or tips.

Cost of Living
Ibiza is popular, and due to this, it is also very expensive. Accommodation especially during summer can be very expensive so make sure you have money saved before arriving. Cheaper and alternative destinations can include Mallorca, Magaluf, Menorca, Tenerife, Alicante and Benidorm.
